Great to see real momentum building around dualuse technologies and the growing recognition of private capital as a key driver of strategic autonomy and defence in Europe. Key takeaways from EDID: 1. Defence is becoming increasingly investable. 2. Early-stage ventures in security and defence still face significant hurdles accessing institutional capital across Europe. 3. Private capital isn’t just welcome, it’s essential to closing the funding gap and fostering European autonomy and security. At Speer Group, we back innovators, fund groundbreaking technologies, and enable investors to contribute to a safer, stronger, and more united Europe.
With great pleasure, we welcome Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart to the Advisory Board of Speer Group, enhancing the team’s capabilities in the realm of joint, combined, all-domain, and land-domain warfare. He served as Commander of NATO’s Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), playing a critical role in reinforcing collective defense and deterrence along NATO’s northeastern flank. With his broad international perspective and operational insight, he plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable value creation across key defense domains, ensuring that land forces evolve toward state-of-the-art war fighting capability, while remaining adaptive, integrated, and effectively positioned within comprehensive, multi-domain security frameworks.
In my recent interview with Jürgen Fischer, Editor-in-Chief of Europäische Sicherheit & Technik, I had the opportunity to share the mission behind Speer Group – and our ambition with Speer Fund II: Answering the questions: - Why private capital must step in where public funding falls short. - Whether Investments in Security and Defence are sustainable ESG - And why resilience isn’t a buzzword, but the base of European sovereignty. Therewith, the article outlines how we at Speer Group aim to build a pan-European platform that fosters communication and collaboration at the intersection of business, diplomacy and defence to contribute to a more secure and prosperous future for Europe. Access the full article (in German) at: https://lnkd.in/dYCApq7V What is your opinion on Defence and sustainability? Are they mutually exclusive, or is defence indeed the precondition for sustainability?
At Speer Group, we believe that it takes more than doing the right thing at the right time. It requires the right people and a clear purpose: We do not invest to capitalise on war, we invest to drive innovation that strengthens Europe’s security, resilience, and prosperity. Our Fund provides seed and growth capital to early-stage ventures, empowering investors to actively shape a more secure and prosperous future for Europe.
